Saab signs upgrade contract for Gripen C/D

Defence and security company Saab has received an order from the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) for upgrades of the current Gripen fleet. The order amounts to 140 MSEK over 2013-2014.

The upgrades and adjustments of the Swedish Armed Forces’ existing Gripen fleet will ensure the multi-role fighter aircraft remains modern and capable of operating efficiently over the next 40 years.”The order includes equipment which will increase the efficiency and lower the costs of operating the Gripen system for the Swedish Armed Forces,” says Lennart Sindahl, Head of business area Aeronautics.

The order also includes the administration of return and improvement processes, work to improve durability as well as several studies.
