Russian cargo spacecraft undocks from ISS

MOSCOW, April 22 (Xinhua) — Russia’s cargo spacecraft Progress M-09M undocked from the Pirs module of the International Space Station (ISS) on Friday, the Mission Control Center (MCC) announced.

According to the MCC, located outside Moscow, the Progress M-09M undocked from the Pirs module at 15:41 Moscow time (1141 GMT) and would remain in orbit for about five days to conduct a scientific mission.

The spacecraft was expected to splash down in the Pacific on April 26, the center said.

The Progress M-09M successfully docked with the ISS on January 30.

Progress-family freighters have been the backbone of the Russian space cargo fleet for decades.
