Mexico plane crash kills 9 from election campaign

CANCUN, Mexico – A plane crashed in the Yucatan jungle, killing all nine people aboard, including seven members of a gubernatorial candidate’s campaign.

The Cessna Caravan crashed Sunday evening just outside Felipe Carillo Puerto, south of Cancun on the Yucatan Peninsula, said Quintana Roo state Attorney General Francisco Alor. Alor said there were no survivors.

Seven of the dead were members of Roberto Borge Angulo’s campaign for governor of Quintana Roo. The two pilots also died. Borge was not on the plane.
