EMBRAER DELIVERS EMBRAER 190 JET TO AIR MOLDOVA

Embraer delivered the first EMBRAER 190 jet to the Moldovan flag carrier, Air Moldova, last May 6, at the Company’s headquarters in São José dos Campos, Brazil. The deal was announced in February 2008, and includes purchase rights for another EMBRAER 190. 

Air Moldova’s EMBRAER 190 is the first to be configured in a 114-seat single-class layout. The aircraft will serve the airline’s European and Middle East networks, operating from the Moldovan capital of Chisinau. 

Air Moldova is a State-owned airline founded in January 1993, becoming the de facto national air carrier. From its hub at Chisinau International Airport, Air Moldova operates direct flights to 16 European destinations. In addition to scheduled passenger service, Air Moldova offers cargo and mail transport, as well as charter flights. In fact, cargo transport is one of the airline’s key activities, and Air Moldova has formed a number of international alliances to allow it to guarantee the efficient delivery of goods by air almost anywhere in the world.The airline has an excellent safety record and operational reliability. Air Moldova’s quality system meets stringent European joint aviation requirements for commercial air transportation (JAR-OPS) and civil aviation authority rules. Internal auditors are trained according to international standards, in order to fully meet requirements and to provide passenger comfort and safety, both in the air and on the ground.

Air Moldova has been a member of the International Air Transportation Association (IATA) since 2004. In December 2008, the airline was included among the carriers that had passed an IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA).
