Sikorsky Aircraft Honors the Los Angeles County Fire Department for Distinguished Service with FIREHAWK Helicopter

ANAHEIM, California – In an event at Heli-Expo today, Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. recognized the Los Angeles County Fire Department for its heroic efforts during the 2008 Southern California wildfires and Metrolink train crash while using the Sikorsky FIREHAWK® helicopter. Sikorsky Aircraft is a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX).  

Sergei Sikorsky, son of company founder Igor Sikorsky, presented Los Angeles Country Fire Department officials with an award in recognition and appreciation of their department’s efforts to save lives and protect the property of California residents.

“The Los Angeles County Fire Department provides a tremendous service to the communities here in Southern California, and Sikorsky is extremely proud to have been a part of that service since 2001 with the FIREHAWK helicopter,” said Carey Bond, Sikorsky Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer. “We are honored that our products are used by agencies like the Los Angeles County Fire Department because they epitomize the vision of Igor Sikorsky, who always believed that the helicopter would one day be a machine for saving lives.”
