Yves Rossy and his team want to do some test runs before the actual flight. Just before 10 a.m., they announced that they had scrubbed the event. Rossy reportedly saying he didn’t have enough time to train.  There is no word yet on if they will reschedule. The necessary approval from the Federal Aviation Administration was giving on Friday morning (May 6), about 30 minutes before the scheduled flight. Â
The FAA said it never has been asked to evaluate anything similar to Rossy’s jet suit, nor does it fit neatly into any category. In the April 28 letter to Rossy, the FAA said it became aware of his plans through public reports.
Rossy’s plan was to jump out of a helicopter near Eagle Point on the Hualapai Indian Reservation and fly for 15 minutes westward along the rim of the canyon in a custom-built suit.
The Hualapai Reservation is known for the Grand Canyon Skywalk, a glass bridge that extends 70 feet from the canyon’s rim and gives visitors a view of the river. The reservation lies west of Grand Canyon National Park.
